In Which Tense Should You Write Your Website Copy?

Sometimes clients are concerned that their campaign websites are not ranking as well as they should for candidate name searches. This usually has to do with the age of the site, existing content that already ranks for the targeted search phrase and whether the website content actually mentions the name of the candidate.

Believe it or not, there are campaign websites out there that barely mention the name of the candidate. Sometimes this is due to the tense in which the content is written, and it can make all the difference to a search engine.

The web provides political campaigns with a cost-effective method to communicate with voters. However, writing for the web is different from writing for print. Simply copying your campaign print material onto your campaign website limits the potential of medium.

Primary vs General Election Website Strategies

There are two types of election campaigns in the US – the primary and the general election. The primary ballot lists all the candidates who are looking to run for that office. Whoever wins the primary election goes on to be on the ballot as the party’s candidate for the general election. The general election then decides the final winner to hold office.

Some candidates work hard to secure a primary victory, and then begin the campaigning process all over again for the general election. A lot of candidates don’t want to put in the effort of starting a campaign website until after they’ve secured a primary. That can be a big mistake.

Better Voter Segmentation Leads To Better Email

A good email segmentation strategy can lead to better results, providing you with higher open rates, and increased conversions from your subscribers. Because no two subscribers are identical, you should not treat everyone on your campaign mailing list the same.

When trying to figure how to send email using segmentation, the first step you should take is determining just what criteria or factors your groups will be based on. Professional marketers often base their lists on personal interests, behavior and demographics. Let us have a closer look at these three areas – and how they might apply to your campaign.

Why Does My About Page Rank Higher Than My Home Page?

rankingHere’s another issue that some clients have when their campaign websites start to rank in the search engines – the site’s About Page ranks higher than the site’s Home Page.

So why would the About Page get top billing? Typically, a website’s Home Page is the ‘strongest’ page, one that tends to rank in the search engines for a candidate’s name.

Here are a few reasons why this could happen, some recommended changes you should make, along with suggestions to help your overall site rank better in the process.
